Suddenly everyone is Robert Osborne online - if you don’t remember him, he was a Turner Classic Movies Host who literally brought back “old movies” to a new generation - but now there are so many liner-note commenters. You've got a cinema ga-lazy of Blogstars and Podcast heroes, so it's unremarkable when all-comers comment on films…
However, tonight MGM is casting Sylvester Stallone as a L...
Malang’s action-packed trailer released
An action-packed trailer of the forthcoming film Malang was released at PVR multiplex, Juhu, Mumbai, today, exactly one month before the scheduled release of the film. The film stars Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani and Kunal Khemu, and is directed by Mohit Suri, who helmed Ek Villain and Aashiqui 2. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kishan Kumar (of the T-Series banner), Luv Ranjan, Ankur Garg and Jay Shewakramani.
Speaking on the occa...
Gemini Man, Review: Clone arranger
Ang Lee directed this poor man’s James Bondage? The man who made Eat Drink Man Woman, Sense and Sensibility, Crouching Tiger--Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain and Life of Pi? No, this is the Ang Lee who made Hulk, which earned twice its cost. A VFX delight, Gemini Man is about a clone on a mission to kill a man who is a professional killer, and is also the man he was cloned from. The movie disappoints, with a below par screenplay, and few impressive d...
Rambo-Last Blood: Rambo No. 5
On its last legs, rather last leg, the Rambo series takes one last shot at the franchise, extending its title from the 1982 sample, First Blood. Nobody can quarrel with this confessional finality of the moniker of Last Blood, which could not but be the last poke of the syringe, or a last bow to the bow, in a subject that has already drained itself out, and badly needed a transfusion to save itself. If Last Blood is that transfusion, it is contaminated, for it is ...

You could say it’s a sweaty little secret, but in ninety-nine percent of all enduring Hollywood blockbuster smash hits, inevitably some man will break into a sprint to save his life. Consider Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow as a running man, from himself and various Admirals, Captains, Dead Men, and “natives.” Recall the beach scene in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise where he breaks full tilt chased by cannibals, who us...
The Guardians of the Galaxy-Vol. 2, Review by Siraj Syed: Turn-up the volume
TGOTG goes back to 1980, when Peter’s father was courting his mother, and then comes to present day, when he s about 35. Like Vol. 1, the film is a riot of colour, sci-fi (visuals) and hi-fi (sounds), even celebrating its own prowess in painting the screen with an explosion of VFX hues, like a futurist child’s dream display of fire-works. It also taps upon latest sound techniques to run music, SFX and dia...
The Expendables 3: Generation Ex+Gen Next
“The challenge was to write literally 16 main characters in a two-hour movie, and how often do you get to write for Zorro, the Terminator, Rocky, Indiana Jones and Mad Max?”—Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, co-writers, The Expendables 3.
The Expendables are a group of righteous, patriotic mercenaries, used by the CIA in operations where the US government does not want to be officially involved. They are led by Barney Ross...
What is it about seeing movie stars in person that so entrances people? It must be something more than the magnetism of their fame. Seeing Sylvester Stallone speak at the LA Film Festival was one of those experiences where you can feel the entire audience sitting in awe.
It wasn't just the Rocky theme playing loud that whipped the audience into a frenzy as he came in. Stallone had that celebrity sparkle, with his dark sunglasses, and the iconic Stallone strut that made him a st...
'Rocky' actor Burt Young chats with Movie Geeks United
Now
we know why Burt Young played Sylvester Stallone’s dyspeptic
bother-in-law Paulie so convincingly in the penultimate Rocky picture:
He was peeved at the he-man.
Interviewed on Movie Geeks United,
the legendary character actor says it was only his daughter’s fond
memories of his earlier collaborations with Sly that repaired an epic
rift.
CAPTION: Burt (above): Much, ah, happier in the final Rocky fli...
