MAHMOUCITO NOW IN CUSCO !!IMPORTANT FILM DIRECTOR FROM IRAN AT THE MAJESTIC Ciudad Imperial Mahmoud Reza Sani, filmmaking ambassador of the 'cinepobre' movement, is now in Cusco, Peru, the archaelogical capital of South America, heritage point of the proud Inca dynasty, where he is continuing his work on a documentary about Perú. As President of the International Arvandan Film Company and well versed in Cusco cinema traditions, he is also contacting local filmmakers to select material for presentation at various film events around the world such as the United Arab Emirates, Tehran, and Tiburon, San Francisco. Internacional Arvandan Film Company, whose productions have raised considerable interest in festivals around the globe, recently inaugurated its headquarters for Latin America, in Lima, Perú, headed by local producer and cultural animator Mariela STUART. In Paris, Helen Dobrensky, of the prestigious internet portal FILMFESTIVALS.COM acts as director and partner. 2006 is a crucial year for discovering Latin American Mahmoud Reza Sani, considered the "prodigy child" of the CINE POBRE universal movement, spearheaded by the legendary Cuban film director Humberto Solás promotes the active circuit to encourage production of low-budget independent films of top-knotch quality. Self-taught author of around twenty short films and two television series, film and theatre actor, Mahmoud Reza Sani has worked as assistant director for leading professionals in his country, Iran, including among others, Khusrow Sinaee, Ahmad Reza Darvish, Khusrow Maesumi, Hasan Barzeedeh. SIYAMO, his opera prima, a hymn to peace, relates the search for the legendary woman in a devestated, but not devoid of fantasy, Post Taleban Afganistan. The film won the gran premio Cesare Zavattini at the First Festival Internacional del Cine Pobre in Gibara, in Cuba 2002. Last April, his feature THE WILD GOOSE 'Ganso Salvaje', dealing with the monstruosity of war as seen by two sensitive individuals, was awarded the SPECIAL PRIZE Pobreza Zero, by the Portuguese NGO - Ong OIKOS, a sponsor of this annual cinematographic event held in Gibara, on the Southern Coast of Cuba. Helen Dobrensky 'CHE, el Dulce Sueño de la Caña', a document that Mahmoud Reza Sani filmed in Cuba, played at the 2006 Short Film Corner during the last Cannes Film Festival. (2 votes)
