Bahamas International Film Festival 

The Bahamas International Film Festival is dedicated to providing the local community and International visitors with a diverse presentation of films from around the world. educational programs, and forums for exploring the future of cinema.

BIFF’s 16th anniversary dates are scheduled for December 9 to December 15 with all activities taking place at Baha Mar and venues around Nassau. BIFF will contribute all revenue after expenses towards Hurricane Dorian Relief for Hope Town, Abaco.

The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) returns in person this May

CINEMA IN PARADISE RETURNS IN PERSON THIS MAY

The 18th Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) will take place in Nassau May 3 – 7, and Cat Island May 8, 2023, That announcement made today by BIFF's Founder & Executive Director, Leslie Vanderpool.
 
BIFF is one of the most respected and exciting film festivals in the Caribbean and named by MovieMaker Magazine as one of the “Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World”. Vanderpool said BIFF is proud to bring back the magic of cinema, creating an environment for viewing films, panel discussions, tributes, and industry networking experiences.
 
This year, the Festival will showcase five days of films to be screened in Nassau and Cat Island. More than 50 films from over 20 countries including all Bahamian premieres, and 30 Caribbean premieres. The curated selection of films are divided into four (4) categories - Spirit of Freedom Documentary, Spirit of Freedom Narrative, New Visions and Short Films - providing something for everyone!
 
The Bahamas International Film Festival not only screens films, but also provides access for the Bahamian public to learn about the production and other aspects surrounding the film industry. Panel discussions and master classes on acting and directing along with BIFF’s signature Screenwriter’s Residency Program will be held. The festival will come to a close in Nassau Sunday, May 7 with a special event on the legacy of Sir Sidney Poitier. For the first time ever BIFF will island hop to Cat Island on May 8 for the screening of the documentary SIDNEY, with producers and the daughters of the late Sidney Poitier.

Apart from showcasing 1000+ local and international films, we have introduced our culture to more than one million film professionals and enthusiasts from around the world and delivered millions in PR exposure. Benefiting from its outstanding hospitality and extraordinary island lifestyle, BIFF has drawn attention and praise from media outlets such as CNN, The New York Times, Entertainment Tonight, The London Times, Variety, Screen International, and more.
