BKK DOC 2021 - Official Selection

This November 26th  2021, Stephane Lambert, the director of BKK DOC, the Bangkok International Documentary Awards and Festival announced the list of Documentaries nominated to BKK DOC 2021 Official Selection.

 

Members of the Selection Committee and the 138 Members of the International Jury

screened and rated over 200 submissions from  40 Countries in order to come up with this year Official Selection in line with our general theme : Visions on Asia. It was not easy for the Jury to make up their mind considering the high quality of the films submitted.

The 2021 Official Selection features 43 documentary films from  22 Countries competing for an award in one of 17 categories.

Thai filmmakers have made it big this year with a total of 7 films nominated in 2 categories (best Thai documentary and best Short documentary), while documentaries nominated from Asia all together reached 31 films or 66% of the Official Selection.

 

 

Percentage of Nominated Films per Country of Origin:

 

Asia : 65%

(Including South East Asia : 35%)
Europe : 30%

America : 5%

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Filmmakers Nominated to the Official Selection are in invited this October to an exclusive online networking events with the members of the jury and representatives from our partners.

 

 

 

The Award winners will be announced on October 10th, 2021 (10.10.2021)

Documentaries will be available for screening online at Filmocracy.com from 1st to 31st of December during.

The Festival will take place in Bangkok at the Goethe institute and at the Alliance Française (according to Thai government regulations) from December 16th to 19th, 2021.
