The Los Angeles Film Festival
Now in its 17th year, the Los Angeles Film Fetival showcases the best of American and international cinema. Drawing an enthusiastic audience of more than 90,000, the Festival provides films with the opportunity to be embraced by the public and discovered by the industry. In addition, the Festival screens films by high school students. Awards are given out in the following categories at the conclusion of the Festival: Best Narrative Feature; Best Documentary Feature; Outstanding Performance in the Narrative Competition; Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature; Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature; Audience Award for Best International Feature; Best Narrative Short Film; Best Documentary Short Film; Best Animated/Experimental Short Film; Audience Award for Best Music Video; and the Audience Award for Best Short Film.
CALL FOR ENTRY SUBMIT Eligibility Requirements
Festival Awards Select narrative features, documentary features, and short films participate in the Festival's three competitive sections, the winners of which are chosen by special juries.
In the Short Film Competition, awards are given for Best Animated or Experimental Short, Best Documentary Short, and Best Narrative Short. Unrestricted cash awards are given in the following categories: Narrative Feature ($15,000), Documentary Feature ($15,000), Best Animated or Experimental Short ($5,000), Best Documentary Short ($5,000), and Best Narrative Short ($5,000).
Cash Awards Entry fees: Feature Films (50 mins. +) Short Films (Under 50 mins.) $30.00 Music Videos $10.00 High School Shorts no charge no charge $5.00 discount on entry fees for Film Independent members. Additional discounts and extended deadlines may be available for submissions made through Withoutabox.
