Corinth International Film Festival launching this fall

The first version of Corinth International Film Festival is going to take place during the last week of October at “LAIS” multiplex and Corinth Municipal Theatre. Organisers invite every upcoming director who has made a film no earlier than 2005 and hasn’t been able to screen their film in public, to make their own “avant-garde” entry in the official selection, their premiere in this festival. Entries shall be submitted from August 1st until August 25th 2008.

1st CIFF is the headliner among the events organised by Cultural Centre of Municipality of Corinth in order to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the modern city’s establishment. The film festival is co-produced by “PETRA TERZI ORG”, a company which interferes with event production and destination events management, with the aim of its establishment as an annual event.

‘BRIDGES’ uniting different worlds

The major importance of Corinth’s geopolitical and historical relation to the rest of Greece, as well as the rest of the world, and especially the significant role of Corinth’s isthmus to history, led to the fulfilment of a unique effort to put together different cultural origins and furthermore whole different worlds, through this festival. A background set to correspond to the city’s primordial essence, its modern one, assists festival’s programme to establish a creative line which rises over any potential obstacle: language, race, culture, religion, ideology. Upcoming directors’ innovative, enthusiastic flow is met with well acclaimed film industry professionals’ experience as well as their aesthetic criteria, evolved through time and interfering with the art of cinema. The festival’s jury is going to be consisted of these people.

Through this “meeting” various “Topic Bridges” which run through the festival, are being put forward: Communication, History, Fantasy, Love, Music, Life, Coalition, Family, Freedom, and Nature.

Target

Cultural Centre of Municipality of Corinth establishes a new cultural institution with great future abilities and international impact. Organisers’ target is to create the appropriate environment so that CIFF is gradually established as the major film event in South Greece, where significant films, from the local and international film industry, are presented. Furthermore, another target for the Organisers is the development of production potentials, as well as the promotion of artistic creation.


Festival’s Programme

Corinth International Film Festival is consisted of the Competition section, as well as various cultural side events, such as workshops related to the art of cinema and many others.

Competition:

Competition includes the following categories:
1. Feature Films (maximum length 120min)
2. Short Films (maximum length 30min)
3. Films for children (maximum length 120min)
4. Animation Films
5. Films about Sports “Ef agonizesthai/Fair Play” (maximum length 120min)
6. Films made by Greeks abroad “Nostimon Imar”
7. Documentary Films (maximum length 45min)
8. Comedies (maximum length 120min)
9. Humanity oriented films (maximum length 120min)
10. VIDEO ART (maximum length 30min)
11. Films about dance and VIDEO DANCE (maximum length 60 min)
Α jury consisted of famous, internationally acclaimed experts of the Film industry are going to award the best movie with “Golden Pegasus”. The director of the winning movie will be provided with the necessary equipment to shoot his next film in Corinth, Greece.
