CPH:PIX Copenhagen Film Festivals

CPH:PIX - Denmark's new feature film festival

CPH:PIX will unspool for the first time in Copenhagen between April 16 and 26 in 2009.

CPH:PIX draws on the experienced teams from the city’s long-running film festivals, the NatFilm Festival and the Copenhagen International Film Festival, which are now merged into one.

CPH:PIX will set a new standard for film festivals in Denmark. A new festival needs a new name - ideally a distinctive one. A name one remembers, a name which gives rise to more associations the more it’s used. A name, which reflects the times we live in and is open to things yet to come.

CPH:PIX will focus on new talents and artistic bravery, both in the festival's film program and in its collaborations across artistic genres and cultural institutions.

CPH:PIX will present the Copenhagen audience with unique film experiences in all genres from all over the world, seasoned with exciting international events and a significant competition program. The artistic profile of the festival will be drawn up by Festival Director Jacob Neiiendam and Head of Programming Niels Lind Larsen, in collaboration with Mikkel Harder, Managing Director of the newly established festival organisation Copenhagen Film Festivals.

The team behind CPH:PIX is:

Jacob Neiiendam (b. 1970). Festival Director. Worked as Head of Programming at the Copenhagen International Film Festival since 2005. Previously film journalist and critic for a number of national and international film publications including Screen International.

Niels Lind Larsen (born 1967). Head of Programming. Worked with programming at the NatFilm Festival since 2001, becoming its Head of Programming in 2006. Also worked as a film critic.

Andreas Steinmann (born 1949). Producer. Has worked for NatFilm Festival since its inception and is one of the country's most experienced festival producers. He will be responsible for the overall planning of all three of the organisation's festivals.

Mikkel Harder (born 1967). Managing Director. Became Managing Director of Copenhagen Film Festivals in April 2008 after five years as Head of Drama at the Royal Danish Theatre. He previously occupied leading positions at Danmarks Radio and founded the Kaleidoskop theatre.

Copenhagen Film Festivals is the result of the merger between Copenhagen's major film festival organisations; Copenhagen International Film Festival and NatFilm. The new organisation today house three international film festivals in the Danish capital: BUSTER – Copenhagen International Film Festival for Children and Youth (Sep.19-26, 2008), run by Festival Director Füsun Eriksen; CPH:DOX – Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival (Nov.7-16, 2008), run by Festival Director Tine Fischer; as well as the new feature film festival CPH:PIX (Apr.16-26, 2009).

CPH Film Market replaces the popular Copenhagen Screenings and adds a brand new market platform for Nordic films for children and youth. The closed market screenings are for invited guests only and run from Sep.25-27 in 2008. The market for documentaries during CPH:DOX remains unchanged.
