Digitraining Plus latest D- Initiative from Media Salles

"Technological innovation is a crucial factor for economic development and it is even more so regarding digital technology applied to the cinema sector, an activity that involves both economic and cultural values”.

These were the words of Gianni Profita, Director General for the Cinema of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Affairs, commenting on the course on digital cinema promoted by MEDIA Salles, on which he affirmed: “It’s very significant for Europeans working in the cinema sector to receive a training opportunity on digital technology, as provided by MEDIA Salles, that organized the course “DigiTraining Plus: New Technologies for European Cinemas”, the first initiative of its kind on an international level, that was fully supported by the Direction General for the Cinema and the European Commission”.

The course concluded yesterday, 4 April at Kuurne, Belgium, at the headquarters of Barco, an internationally renowned company that manufactures large-screen digital projection equipment, that offered the possibility to see up close some important technological novelties. Among these, the participants could gain hands-on knowledge of the top models, the D-Cine Premiere DP100, that guarantees extremely high standards for up to 23-meter screens.

Nicolas Hamon for Barco Digital Cinema and Micheal Gilessen for EVS, illustrated the processes of installation, programming, and play-out, besides monitoring and assistance for optimum functioning of the projector and server.

Evaluating the various aspects of the course, an overwhelmingly positive judgement was agreed upon by the course participants, who arrived from all over Europe, from Spain to Denmark, from Holland to Hungary, representing both small and medium-sized companies and large chains, that operate both multiplexes and art-house cinemas.
