Festen Director to preside Festival des Arcs

The Danish film-maker, Thomas Vinterberg (Festen, It's all about love, Dear Wendy) will be the president of the 2010 Jury of Les Arcs European Film Festival. It is now time for you to be introduced to this talented film-maker.
- The Dogme 95 movement initiated a Danish new wave.
In 1995, Thomas Vinterberg and Lars von Trier initiated a film-making movement, the Dogme 95. Opposed to Anglo-saxon film productions, they believe in the high artistic value of realism. Many film-makers followed the ten rules of the Dogme 95 movements which were written in the Dogme 95 Manifesto (Lovers by Jean-Marc Barr, Italian for Beginners by Lone Scherfing, ...)
- Festen received worldwide praise.
In 1998, the first Dogme film, Festen, was shot by Thomas Vinterberg. This film on a family whose hideous secrets are revealed during a birthday dinner was largely praised at the 1998 Cannes International Film Festival where it received the Special Prize of the Jury.
- In 2005, the Dogme movement ended.
On 20th March 2005, Thomas Vinterberg and Lars von Trier put an official end to the Dogme 95. Since then, Thomas Vinterberg shot two English-speaking films (It's all about love, Dear Wendy). His latest Danish feature film Submarino which was in competition at the 2010 Berlinale will be released in France on September 1st, 2010. .
