Highlights on the Annual African American Film Marketplace16th Annual African-American Film Marketplace and S.E. Manly Short Film Showcase DECEMBER 18 - 20, 2009 AT NATE HOLDEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER CELEBRATING THE 50th ANNIVERSARY OF "IMITATION OF LIFE"
The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center (BHERC) is pleased to produce their 16th Annual African American Film Marketplace and S.E. Manly Short Film Showcase December 18 - 20, 2009 at the Nate Holden Performing Art Center, 4718 West Washington Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90016. The Opening night Ceremony will Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1959 groundbreaking film Imitation of Life. On December 19th and 20th, BHERC will feature more than fifty short films and documentaries from around the country as well as host entertainment seminars and panels featuring distinguished industry professionals, including the Art Imitates Life Forums including working with New Technology, Spotlight on Young Filmmakers, Film Distribution, Intimate Discussions with Acting Coaches, Stage vs. Film Acting, Creating a Reel with Green Screen, Working during the recession, Creating your own Properties and Solutions in Hollywood, Finding An Agent, and Fighting Back with Film. Through film festivals, award ceremonies, book signings, script readings, contests, scholarships, other programs and special events, BHERC recognizes the contributions of Black men and women in front of and behind the scenes in the entertainment industry. John Forbes heads the First Weekend Club that hosts free film screenings and encourages audiences to support films the first weekend. There will be a $5.00 donation to attend the Festival each day. 7:30 p.m. screening with reception to follow
December 19, 2009
10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Fighting Back with Film
Fight Back With Film segment: "Dilemma," "Roots of Destruction," "Peace Process," and "Locks" are the featured films.
Screening of short films with a focus of gang life with a discussion to follow with activists and organizations from the LA community.
2:30-6:00 p.m.: Short Film Screenings
2:30-4:30 p.m.: New Technology Panel
Discussion of new ways to have films viewed and marketed through the internet, social networking and webisodes.
5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Intimate Discussion with Black Talent Agents

10:00 - 12:00 p.m.: Spotlight on Young Filmmakers
12:30 p.m. -10:00 p.m. Short Film Screenings
1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.: Art Imitates Life Forum ~ Discussion with Acting Coaches and Creating your Reel with a Green Screen
