Jeremy Irons to receive Ischia Legend Award

The Ischia Legend Award 2010 has been awarded to Jeremy Irons. The British actor (Oscar winner in 1990 for “Reversal of Fortune” by Barbet Schroeder) will receive the prestigious special award on Tuesday July 13th at Sant’Angelo of Ischia during the 8° Global Film & Music Festival. With this award the accomplished British actor joins in the Festival record beside prominent colleagues such as Sir Ben Kinglsey, Dennis Hopper, Vanessa Redgrave, Hilary Swank, Murray Abraham, Giancarlo Giannini and Stefania Sandrelli. Jeremy Irons, whose career spans over three decades, will land on the Green Island together with his wife Sinead Cusack and agent Fred Specktor and will be welcome by filmmakers Bilie August who directed him in 'The House of Spirits”. In his long and successful career, Irons gave in mesmerizing performances in internationally acclaimed feature films such as ''The Mission'' by Roland Joffe' opposite Robert De Niro (for this film Irons obtained a nomination to the Golden Globe); “The French Lieutenant’s Woman” by Karel Reisz opposite Meryl Streep, (one BAFTA nomination); ''Dead Ringers” and ''M Butterfly'' by David Cronenberg, “Kafka'' by Steven Soderbergh, ''Damage” by Louis Mall, “Lolita” by Adrian Lyne, 'Stealing Beauty' by Bernando Bertolucci , “The Man in the Iron Mask” by Randall Wallace, ''Callas forever'' by Franco Zeffirelli, ''The Kingdom of Heavens” by Ridley Scott and ''Inland Empire'' by David Lynch.
This year, the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest 2010 (July 11th-18th) will be officially opened by the premiere of Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street Money Never Sleeps” and the Master of Ceremonies will be Eleonora Abbagnato. This year edition will be dedicated to Mexico.
In addition to international film premieres on the magic screen of Regina Isabella’s bay, the Festival will feature screenings in the movie theatres of Forio and Ischia Porto as well as concerts, performances and meetings with the stars in the most picturesque locations of the Island. Among the most eagerly awaited events, the Social Cinema Forum dedicated to the recovery of real values for young people, chaired by producer Trudie Styler. The event also includes a short film contests (www.socialcinemaforum.com)”.
Ischia Global Film & Music Fest (www.ischiaglobal.com) is produced by Pascal Vicedomini and is promoted by Accademia Internazionale Arte Ischia in association with the Agency for Tourism of Naples and with the support of the Tourism Department of the Campania Region and the Cinema Division of the Ministry of Culture.
