Refreshing, eye-opening, heart-warming, sad and beautiful cinema in Berlin"Refreshing, eye-opening, heart-warming, sad and beautiful cinema,” is what festival director Dieter Kosslick wishes for the 56th Berlinale. It’s a year of superlatives for the festival: the most professional guests, the most journalists, record participation at the Berlinale Talent Campus and at the new European Film Market in the Martin-Gropius-Bau – and audience interest in the Berlinale, “the public festival”, is as high as ever. Even more than the numbers, it’s the themes and content that distinguish this year’s festival. At the end of the day, everyone experiences his own personal Berlinale. Let’s hope bridges are built and new connections formed. Surely after this Berlinale plenty of fresh names will again be on everyone’s tongue. |
