SAG Awards roster of presenters on jan 29

Amy Adams, Pierce Brosnan, Sandra Bullock, Morgan Freeman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sean Hayes, Terrence Howard Heath Ledger, William H. Macy, Christopher Meloni and Ziyi Zhang will be presenters at the 12th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards®, executive producer Jeff Margolis announced today.

They join a growing roster of actors who will honor their colleagues at the 12th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® that includes Naveen Andrews, Patricia Arquette, Benjamin Bratt, Jamie Lee Curtis, Marg Helgenberger, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria, Ellen Pompeo, SAG President Alan Rosenberg, William Shatner, David Strathairn, Hilary Swank and Isaiah Washington.

TNT and TBS will simulcast the 12th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® live from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 8 pm ET/PT, 7 pm CT and 6 pm MT. The only industry honors voted on entirely by actors, the 12th Annual SAG Awards™ will recognize the outstanding performances of 2005 in five film and eight television categories.

First-time Actor® nominee Amy Adams is making her first appearance as a SAG Awards™ presenter. Adams is a SAG Award™ nominee for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Junebug. She will soon be seen in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Enchanted.

Pierce Brosnan, who is currently starring in The Matador with Greg Kinnear, will make his second appearance as a SAG Awards™ presenter. Brosnan has a number of projects in development, including a sequel to The Thomas Crown Affair. Audiences will next see Brosnan star with Liam Neeson in Seraphim Falls, and he begins shooting Butterfly on a Wheel with Maria Bello and Gerald Butler in March. Brosnan previously presented the 2003 Actor® for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role to Nicole Kidman for The Hours.

First-time SAG Award™ nominee Sandra Bullock is making her first appearance as a presenter. Bullock is nominated for an Actor® for Outstanding Performance by the Cast of a Motion Picture as a member of the cast of Crash. She next will be seen in The Lake House opposite Keanu Reeves and as novelist Harper Lee in Infamous.

Morgan Freeman received his first Actor® last year for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for Million Dollar Baby and is a three-time nominee. Last year he was also nominated for an Actor® as a member of the Million Dollar Baby cast. Freeman’s first Actor® nomination came in 1995 for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for The Shawshank Redemption, a performance for which he also received his third Oscar® nomination (the first two being for Street Smart and Driving Miss Daisy). Freeman is making his third appearance as a SAG Awards™ presenter. Last year, along with Annette Bening, he presented Glenn Close the Actor® for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for The Lion in Winter, and in 1997, along with Dennis Hopper, he presented the Actor® for Outstanding Performance by the Cast of a Motion Picture to the cast of the birdcage. Freeman recently wrapped production on several upcoming projects, including Lucky Number Slevin, Colors Straight Up, The Contract, Evan Almighty and Harry and the Butler.


First-time double Actor® nominee Jake Gyllenhaal is making his second appearance as a SAG Awards™ presenter. His nominations for Brokeback Mountain, for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role and as a member of the cast, are his first. Gyllenhaal, who will later this year be seen in the feature thriller Zodiac, previously presented the 2004 Actor® for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role to Reneé Zellweger for Cold Mountain.

A three-time Actor® recipient and 12-time nominee, Sean Hayes is nominated for the sixth consecutive year for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for Will & Grace. He has been honored with three Actors® for the series, individually in 2002 and 2003 and as a member of the ensemble in 2001. The Will & Grace cast also received ensemble nominations in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Hayes was also nominated in 2003 for Outstanding Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for Martin and Lewis. Hayes introduced the “And The Actor Goes To” 10-year retrospective at the 2004 SAG Awards™ and last year presented the Actor® for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series to Allison Janney for The West Wing.

Three-time Actor® nominee Terrence Howard shares two nominations this year for Outstanding Performance by the Cast of a Motion Picture with both the Crash and Hustle and Flow casts. Howard received his first Actor® nomination last year as a member of the cast of Ray. This is his first appearance as a SAG Awards™ presenter.

Double first-time Actor® nominee Heath Ledger is also making his first appearance as a SAG Awards™ presenter. He is nominated twice for Brokeback Mountain, for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role and as a member of the cast. Ledger, who most recently starred in Lords of Dogtown, Casanova and The Brothers Grimm, will next appear in the Australian film Candy, which premieres at the Berlin Film Festival.

Actor® recipient and six-time nominee William H. Macy received a SAG Award™ in 2003 for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Mini-Series for TNT’s Door to Door. Macy was also nominated for a Actor® in 1997 for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for Fargo, in 1998 as a member of the cast of Boogie Nights, in 2000 as a member of the cast of Magnolia and in 2004 as a member of the cast of Seabiscuit. Last year he was once again nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for TNT’s The Wool Cap. Macy introduced the In Memoriam tribute at the 2003 SAG Awards™ and presented the 1998 Actor® for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Mini-Series to Sigourney Weaver for Snow White: A Tale of Terror. Macy will soon be seen in the interactive film, Choose Your Own Adventure: The Abominable Snowman, which also features his wife, Felicity Huffman; Thank You For Smoking; Bobby (the story of the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy); Doogal; The Bee Movie; and TNT’s Nightmares and Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King.

Christopher Meloni, star of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, now in its seventh season, will make his first appearance as a SAG Awards™ presenter. Meloni stars as Detective Elliot Stabler, partnered with Actor® nominee Mariska Hargitay, who is nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Detective Olivia Benson. He received an Irish Times Theater Award nomination for his performance this summer in Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge at the Dublin’s Gate Theater. Meloni starred on the critically acclaimed HBO prison drama Oz and numerous films, including Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle and Runaway Bride.

Ziyi Zhang, who is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her performance in Memoirs of a Geisha, is making her first appearance as a SAG Awards™ presenter. Zhang was also nominated for a Golden Globe® for her portrayal of Sayuri, the celebrated geisha from Arthur Golden's bestselling novel. She will next been seen starring in the Chinese language film The Banquet (Ye Yan).
