The 2008 Stockholm International Film Festival Jury

The Stockholm International Film Festival now reveals the names of the five people who will decide which film will be presented with the honorable Bronze Horse. This year’s jury consists of representatives from the world of film, television and theatre, and is chaired by screen writer and producer Jörn Donner.

The festival jury presents the festival’s honorary award, the 16 lb Bronze Horse, to a film in the Stockholm XIX Competition. The jury also presents Aluminum Horses for best directorial debut, best screenplay, best short film, best actor/actress, best cinematography and the newly-launched Best Music Award to films in competition. The jury of 2008 consists of:

He was born in Helsinki, Finland, but is currently a Swedish resident, working as a columnist and critic at the national morning paper Dagens Nyheter. Donner was the producer of Ingmar Bergman’s 1982 masterpiece “Fanny and Alexander”, a film that received four Academy Awards. He has been a member of the Swedish, as well as the European, parliament.

Karin Mamma Andersson – artist. Karin Mamma Andersson has in recent years emerged as one of Sweden’s most internationally famous artists. She grew up in the northern parts of Sweden, but is now based in the country’s capital. Andersson studied at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm for seven years. In 2003, Andersson represented Sweden at the Venice Biennale.

Sharon Swart – journalist. Sharon Swart is Senior Editor of features at Variety, primarily covering the independent film world. Prior to her work at Variety, Sharon spent four years as an editor at The Hollywood Reporter in Los Angeles. Sharon was born in The Hague, The Netherlands and completed graduate work in Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam.

Elin Klinga – actress. Elin Klinga studied at the National Academy of Mime and Acting in Stockholm, and her résumé covers cinema and television, as well as theater. Mastermind Ingmar Bergman featured her in several stage productions and considered her one of his favorites. In 2008, Klinga received the Ingmar Bergman Scholarship.

Erik Richter Strand – director. Erik Richter Strand is a Norwegian director, with Cannes Lion-awarded commercials and internationally acclaimed short films on his résumé. He was born in Bergen, Norway, and graduated from the National Film School in Lillehammer School of Film in 2002, before starting his career as a filmmaker.
