Tribeca Underground Film Fest announces its line up

TRIBECA UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL announced today its lineup of short films in competition. More than 50 short films from 15 countries will screen in New York City from May 2 - May 7 2006. Now in its third year, TRIBECA UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL focuses only on short films. With over 450 submissions from around the world the competition selection does not separate by country of production. Instead, the competition films are distinguished only by genre into live action (narrative, documentary, experimental) and animation. Routinely, first time and well established filmmakers screen side by side in an environment designed to support creativity. Focusing on the belief that "Shorter is Better" TRIBECA UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL is on the way to becoming one of the largest short film festivals on the East Coast. Held once a year in Manhattan, it provides a cultural and entertaining forum while recognizing and honoring independent, emerging and established filmmakers. A panel of judges from the entertainment industry reviews the films and selects the winners. Small business owner Laurence Asseraf started the festival in spring 2004 in her art gallery “A Taste Of Art” in Tribeca NYC. Soon, the festival -as well as its partner screening series- outgrew the gallery space and moved to larger venues in order to accommodate its following. “This is a festival fueled by passion. We are very excited by the support and loyalty the filmmakers provide us on a daily basis from around the world. It is this enthusiasm that helped shape this years program into another amazing collection of short films”.
