Winners of the Grand Prize of the Dutch Film

Winners of the Grand Prize of the Dutch Film, the Golden Calf 2004

The Grand Prize of Dutch Film, the Golden Calves for 2004, were presented during the Dutch Film Gala.

The presentation ceremony marked the close of the 24th Netherlands Film Festival, which on Wednesday evening concluded the film screenings with the première of the festival's closing film, HIDDEN FLAWS, attended by director Paula van der Oest, writer Renate Dorrestein and lead actors Henny Orri, Priscilla Knetemann and Bram van den Hooven. The festival attracted 106,500 visitors; an increase on last year, when 105,000 visited the festival. Next year's 25th anniversary will be celebrated with a special jubilee edition.

The Golden Calf Jury 2004 - consisting of Dick Willemsen (chair), Barry Atsma, Hans Hylkema, Hanneke Niens, Antoinette Polak, Bert Rijkelijkhuizen and Dirk Teenstra - awarded the Golden Calves in fifteen categories: Best Sound Design, Best Editing, Best Production Design, Best Music, Best Photography, Best Scenario, Best Short Film, Best Short Documentary, Best Full-Length Documentary, Best TV Drama, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Direction Feature Film, Best Feature Film and the Special Jury Award. The Golden Calf for the Tiscali Audience Award was presented to the feature that was most appreciated by festival audiences.

The Dutch Film Critics' Award was also presented this evening. This press prize is awarded by the Circle of Dutch Film Journalists (KNF). The jury this year was made up of Robbert Blokland, Ronald Ockhuysen, Jann Ruyters, Bianca Stigter and Karin Wolfs.

The winner of the Golden Calf for Best Scenario 2004 receives 7,000 euros from the Dutch Film Fund, to be spent on writing a treatment for a new film.

The Dutch Film Critics Award is supported by Holland Subtitling, who will facilitate a subtitled copy of the winning film or a subsequent film.
