Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

The 17th Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival is Approaching

Grossmann 2021 will take place in July in Ljutomer and Ormož (Ormož, July 16-18 / Ljutomer, July 20-24).

Once again, a selection of exquisite genre films from all around the world awaits you at 6 venues in Ljutomer and Ormož. 35 feature films and about the same number of short films will be screened. Six feature films will compete for the Vicious Cat award for best feature. Short films will compete for Slak’s Vicious Cat award for best short film and Melies d’argent award for best European fantastic short film (gien by MIFF), while the best music documentary will be awarded with the Noisy Cat award.

This year’s guests of honour and receivers of the Honorary Vicious Cat award for special achievements in fantastic cinema are cult American director Gary Sherman and Lloyd Kaufman, head of the legendary Troma Entertainment studio.

We will also screen a special retrospective of South Korean horror cinema in partnership with Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vienna. The retrospective will include A Tale of Two Sisters (2003), Oldboy (2003), The Host (2006), The Wailing (2016) and The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion (2018).

The festival will also offer workshops, exhibitions, wine tastings, free camping, Zombie Walk (if the National Health Institute’s rules will allow) and definitely the first ever Zombie Drive-by from Ljutomer to Ormož, and – of course – great company!

This year’s poster was once again made by the inimitable grandmaster Ivica Stevanović.

So mark the dates in your calendars and see for yourself why the MovieMaker Magazine, the world’s most widely read independent movie magazine, once again named Grossmann one of the World’s 50 Best Genre Fests!
