Hollywood Comes to the Heartland

Hollywood, CA (PR WEB) March 4, 2009.  You may have never heard of places like Findlay Ohio, Stillwater Oklahoma, or  Eau Clair, Wisconsin, but on May 4th all of this will change.  That is the date of the big screen debut of “Say it in Russian,” the award winning romantic thriller starring Faye Dunaway, which rolls out the red carpet in select cities during Carmike Cinemas and Dalton Pictures & Entertainment’s historic Independent Film Series.   The series opened this week with Tom Arnold’s indy, “Remarkable Power.”

“We’re bringing Hollywood to Main Street, and the locals are welcoming us with open arms,” said Kenneth Eade, Executive Producer.  Gala red carpet Hollywood style premieres with all the bells and whistles are planned for Huntsville Alabama, Champaign Illinois, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Savannah Georgia, and Salt Lake City Utah, where the public will have the privilege of attending and meeting the stars for only $5.

Speaking to a crowd at the Geneva Illinois Film Festival, Agata Gotova, the leading actress of the film, which has won six film festival awards and been nominated for best feature film nine times, said,  “I’ve seen a different America.  I thought I knew it, but you’ve shown me a whole different part of it that I never knew.”  She was speaking of down home hospitality, something that has been lost over the years in the trend setting capitals of  the U.S.

“The cozy Midwest and the charming South are demographics that have been neglected by mainstream Hollywood,” said Eade.  “But one thing we have learned from our festival circuit is that the audiences there love our film.”  And that is what Carmike, the fourth largest theater chain in the U.S. and distributor Dalton Pictures are betting on with the Independent Film Series, which showcases one independent film each week, projected with state of the art digital technology.

Filmed in Paris, Moscow and Los Angeles, with award winning exceptional cinematography and a fully orchestrated original score by Russian Superstar Igor Nikolaev, "Say it in Russian" stars Russian actress Agata Gotova, in the lead role of the film as Daria Larina, the daughter of a rich Russian mafia oligarch played by Serbian actor Rade Serbedzija (Snatch, Shooter). Gotova's character falls in love with the American Andrew Lamont, played by actor Steven Brand (The Scorpion King,) but Andrew soon finds on a visit to Moscow that he is involved with a family that is more complicated and dangerous than he ever imagined. Academy Award Winner Faye Dunaway plays the role of Jacqueline, a Paris socialite who acts as the matchmaker for Andrew and Daria. "Say it in Russian" is the official selection for the 2009 Honolulu International Film Festival, the 2009 Omaha Film Festival, the 2008 Geneva Film Festival, and the 2008 Other Venice Film Festival, and the winner of Best Big Budget Film from the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival, a Silver World Medal from the New York Festivals 2009 International Film and Video Awards, Winner of Best in Show from The Indie Distribution Fest, as well as the winner of The Indie Fest's Award of Excellence in Cinematography and Award of Merit for Actor Rade Serbedzija.
