Pop Star Sami.The.Great Launches Kickstarter Campaign to Fund TourBy Liza Foreman Indie pop star sami.the.great has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds for her first fully-fledged solo tour. "I want to do something that is a little more interesting both musically and visually,” she said. “I plan on creating a set using programs and instruments that will let me fill the spaces with sounds that a band may have filled, totally on my own.” For the tour, the artist will also work with the animator Preston Spurlock to create a, “trippy, unique animation inspired by my music to be projected while I play my songs,” she said. “It will hopefully be an audio-visual experience that will be new and enticing for the listeners/viewers." Meanwhile, The Deli NYC, a music website that chronicles up-and-coming NYC independent artists, has named sami.the.great as one of 2012's best songwriters. Nominated in the "rootsy pop" category, the site commented, "the lady doesn't lack a fair share of sass and character, either, which makes things even more interesting.”
