KYOTO - The first Kyoto International Film and Art Festival (October 16-19, 2014) came to a close on Sunday, with an awards ceremony in Gion with its cobbled lanes and Geisha.
The festival celebrated Kyoto both as the birth place of Japanese cinema and for the refined craftsmanship the former capital is known for.

The 70th Venice Film Festival came to a close Saturday night with a raft of prizes awarded here on the Lido by a jury headed by Bernardo Bertolucci.

Hollywood came to Okinawa on Sunday, with represenatatives from the Hollywood agency CAA presenting a seminar, and filmmaker Joel Schumacher in town to head up the jury of this year's Okinawa International Movie Festival.

The 5th Okinawa International Movie Festival opened today with Japan's top comedians making the trek down from Tokyo, courtesy of organisers Yoshimoto, to entertain the crowds.
Drawing a large gathering in the humid heat with spots of rain, the red carpet was followed by an open air screenings, and a welcome reception with guests including Joel Schumacher.
