Laura Dern was born in 1967 to actors Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern.

She said, "She was conceived in Idlewild, California while her parents were filming, 'Wild Angels'.”

Laura went on to work with director David Lynch on films, “Wild At Heart,” “Blue Velvet,” and his television show “Twin Peaks.”  She grew up hanging out with friends of her parents like Shelley Winters and Gregory Peck.  In Palm Springs the family had a home at the Racquet Club where stars like Charlie Farrell, Clark Gable and other Hollywood friends would come to escape LA on the weekends.

Laura said, “my parents would take me for a date shake, and I would be the happiest girl in the world.”

Her first role is uncredited, as the girl eating ice cream in Martin Scorsese’s, “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.” Laura worked with Alex Payne on “Citizen Ruth,” and Steven Spielberg on ”Jurassic Park.”

In 1982 she was “Miss Golden Globe,” and this Sunday, January 5th, 2020, she is won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in “Marriage Story”.  She has had many nominations, and wins, and the year is just getting started. Quite an achievement for a child of divorced parents. She said that she was able to draw from that experience for her latest role.

She will next be seen in Jurassic Park 3.
