- Festival's first Statement -

The International Film Festival of Montpellier, for its first edition, intends to be a cosmopolitan event, bringing together young film artists from all around the world, with a strong intention of pedagogy towards a large audience, as well as a real opportunity for young creatives to find their place in the world of Cinema.

We are willing to present original visions, independant contents and rare productions to the general public, and to start a dialog between film lovers and professionals and between established artists and young creators.

The event will take place in Montpellier, from the 13 to 19 of October 2010. During this week, we'll organize the showing of short and long films, as well as the selected documentaries in competition.

In addition, we'll have a script's challenge in order to advocate the promotion and the financial help of the best scriptplays.

During this event,  we'll also organize conferences, debates, meetings, forums, exhibitions and talks about a genre or the cinema of a country that we will honour.

The main goal of our Festival is to give new talents an exceptional recognition, thanks to a jury of established and internationally recognized artists, and to the ressources of our partners. Indeed, not only the competition gives a chance to any director and screenwriter in the world to get famed, but the money we'll earn will be used to make durable this anual manifestation and to create a brand new production company, open to all independent artists.

As a conclusion a parallel project, the Very Insane Projections, will be put in place with night showing of films and concerts. That will be the occasion to project unusual movies, underground material and to give the audience a chance to meet this form of art. It will be also the occasion to insist on the essential link between cinema and music, through different multidisciplinary artists and soundtracks.
