"Waltzing with Brando" closing film of Torino International Film Festival
American film director Bill Fishman and leading actor Billy Zane will present the film in world premiere at the Torino Film Festival
"Waltzing with Brando", written and directed by Bill Fishman, will have its world premiere at the 42tff during the awards ceremony on Saturday November 30. Together with the director, the leading actor Billy Zane will be present. The American actor, in an astonishing way becomes Marlon Brando.
The action mainly takes place between 1969 and 1974, while Brando is preparing for his memorable roles in "The Godfather" and "Last tango in Paris", and is based on the memoir of Bernard Judge and stars, along side with Zane, Jon Helder ("Napoleon Dynamite", "Blades of Glory") and Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss.
This film is one of the most anticipated film in recent times. "Waltzing with Brando" marks the ideal epilogue for the Torino Film Festival, which is dedicating a major retrospective to Marlon Brando in order to celebrate the centenary of his birth.
Billy zane
Since his debut in Zemeckis' "Back to the Future" he has taken part in numerous highly successful films, such as "Dead Calm" alongside Nicole Kidman, "Orlando" with Tilda Swinton, "Titanic" in the role of the famous antagonist, to the more recent films "Samson" in 2018 and "The Great War" in 2019.
Bill Fishman
An independent film director, in his career he has directed and produced numerous films, cult titles such as Tapeheads and Car 54, as well as award-winning music videos. Among his most notable productions: Posse, Underdogs, Odd Man Rush and Forgiveness.
"Waltzing with Brando"
The little-known and absolutely true story that tells how Marlon Brando convinced architect Bernard "Bernie" Judge that together they could build the world's first ecologically perfect refuge on a tiny and uninhabitable island in Tahiti. Brando believed that this great ecological experiment would inspire the world in order to build a better and more sustainable future. So Bernie, the practical problem solver, and Brando, the moody dreamer, begin an incredible adventure and become unlikely friends along the way. But will this dream ever come true?
The Torino Film Festival is organized by the National Cinema Museum of Turin and is held in colaboration with the Ministry of Culture Directorate General Cinema and Audiovisual, Piedmont Region, City of Turin, Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, CRT Foundation.
