SYNOPSIS VIDÉ is a drama that draws a parallel between Art, Love and Faith in the life of an artist, a metaphorical character, the antagonist and protagonist - GIOVANNI FRANCISCO BERNARD, portrayed against the fading Portuguese Indian community, their religious sentiments and quaint lifestyle in the 1960’s. Giovanni’s life had long revolved around the Church; fostered by Fr. Martin, and trained by Jazz enthusiast Fr. Valmour, Giovanni develops a great passion for music right from childhood, and continues his life with the rectory well past his teens, teaching music at the seminary and playing the piano during church services. In an unexpected turn of events, the Provincial decides to stop music lessons at the Seminary, which meant that Giovanni had to seek a job elsewhere. Even though a challenge, this was a renewed opportunity for Giovanni, who for long had taken efforts to have a life, beyond the precincts of the Church, but his attempts were beleaguered by poor opportunities and egos at work that were uncalled for. Giovanni’s attempts at finding a new job finally pays off; he gets to perform at the local radio station, his friend SAMMY sets up a meeting for him with a well-placed record producer, they even record a demo for their prospective producer, but just as things looked promising comes that fateful day of unfortunate incidences’; the producer abandons him, his radio broadcast fails, and an inebriated conversation with his best friend Sammy, lures him to his last resort – GOD Desperate time’s calls for desperate measures and a DIALOGUE with GOD was the need of the hour, in front of the Church, and in the middle of the night, he pours his heart out to the Almighty……. but after the monologue and on his way back, he has a freak bicycle accident and as a result loses his eye sight! Time heals they say and its true – Even though it takes a while to adapt to a life of blindness, Giovanni finds light and hope in his life again, a new approach to his passion; MUSIC brings him recognition and favor with an old crush - Isabella, the town’s most renowned singer, together they make music records and hold stage performances. A year and many shows later, Isabella aids him in finding a donor, and a surgery in Moravia (a foreign country) recuperates his eye sight. After months of healing a joyous Giovanni returns home to find that Isabella and the Producers have left the country without any premonitions. Now left with nothing, the Church offers him his old job as the music instructor at the Seminary. Life comes full circle for Giovanni as he finds himself where he once was - a Church pianist… but love knows no bounds and his search for Isabella continues, until an aid helps him with her post box number in a distant land. If it was his music that won her initially, it would be his music that would win her again, and so he starts writing to her, attaching his music compositions with them, but a contention remains - they were not his compositions, it rightfully belonged to someone else, someone who stood by him through thick and thin ‘his best friend SAMMY’ “Art is the most easily stolen creation in this world, its creator creates it for love, but most often its value is realized by someone else – Manoj Nigli” Shot on historical landmark locations including real Churches founded by St. Thomas (the Apostle of Jesus), nurtured by the great apostle St. Francis Xavier and fostered by the saintly martyr Archbishop Jordanus Catalani de Severac, a cast of actual Seminarians of the Capuchin Province of St. Francis of Assisi under the auspicious of Rev.
