The 24th Israel Film Festival 2009 in New York (NYIFF09) will be held at the SVA Theatre (333 West 23 St.), December 5 - 13, 2009. The festival presented by IsraFest Foundation, Inc., in association with the Consulate General of Israel in New York, annually showcase the largest of Israeli cinema. Israeli filmmaker Eyal Sivan has been asked by IDFA to program a personal Top Ten List of his favorite films for this year's event. Sivan is in Amsterdam for the premiere of his latest film Jaffa, The Orange Clockwork, which screens in the IDFA Competition for Feature-Length Documentaries. During the festival, Sivan will also present a masterclass in which he will explain his choices for his list.

It is a city remembered for its glorious past but with no future. Instead of dealing with the present, people remain involved in the past. This is what stands in the way of Jerusalem’s survival.

Which of the three religions should have the right to control Jerusalem?
Should Jerusalem be the capital city?
Maybe all that is happening in Jerusalem stems from the ”Jerusalem Syndrome” that causes one to lose touch with reality and ones stability.
Did Israel and Jerusalem’s leaders suffer from this syndrome as well?
