Director: Cyrena Dunbar.
"once upon a time" is a non-narrative art film. In conjunction with the open call for art projects at the B:east Temporary Art and culture project put together in Nuremberg in 2011, the concept of this short emerged. As a way to capture the amazing off-space where the exhibition was to take place before it was injected with installations left, right, and center, Cyrena Dunbar created a skeletal structure for a multi-colored and unexpected Film project, intentionally leaning toward an unexpected result. The concept being to not tell a story, and do so with approximately 100 simple objects, the space itself, and the human figure. Nothing being forced, each object receives one exercise which is not necessarily connected to it's common use, and shot in singular takes in different areas and settings. It is purely based on the action and reaction of each human-object duet, a process with no future. Only the output, resulting in a magnifying game for eyes and ears, can continue to live on, and makes one see common things in a different light.

Tuesday, January 9----It is often said, and I would be a fool to disagree, that anyone who lives in New York City long enough becomes a kind of “honorary Jew”. Whether it is an uncontrollable yen for matzoh ball soup, a love of klezmer (Jewish soul) music, or a few Yiddishims creeping into everyday speech, New Yorkers are in spirit, if not in reality, more than just a little bit Jewish. Therefore, the 16th Annual New York Jewish Film Festival, which opens tomorrow and runs through January ...
