Online, on-air and in person, this is BUFF. And so said the voice of BUFF which greeted the masses of online followers with the May 31 announcement of this year’s opening feature. And though the dulcet tones of Ewan Allinson and DJ Elayne Smith will continue to form a cornerstone of the BUFF movement, things are going to be a little bit different round here. From September, the 2011 British Urban Film Festival will be coming at ya with a whole new look which means, finally, that the buffest fi...

GO FOR IT! is a powerful and provocative inner city story based on Carmen (Aimee Garcia), a teenager’s decision whether to pursue her God given dance talent in a university or not. This film explores the competitiveness in the art of dance, student’s academic challenges in a learning environment, economic and social depravity of inner city life. Tickets to the Nomading Film Festival (NoFF) are
now on sale. With the submission deadline closing only three days ago, it is
now time to start counting down the days to the first ever film festival aimed
at travelers who film, not necessarily just filmmakers who travel.
Inspired by the idea that travel connects us all, NoFF asked the travel
community to “Engage. Explore. Record.” and they obliged. Submissions ranged in
topics but each was just 15 minutes or less in length....
Aside from the smorgasboard of films on tap at this year’s 10th Tribeca Film Festival, which runs through Sunday, the event has been filled with very interesting film panels and talks. One of the most interesting took place on Tuesday entitled Digital By Design. Paramount Digital Entertainment president Tom Lesinski led a panel of experts to discuss how social media can assist in both the marketing and the distribution of independent films.
Now that more movies are being distr...

Seven months ago when I applied to work as an intern for ÉCU -The European Independent Film Festival (aka Fun European Project as it said in the Craiglist job ad!) I had no idea what I was getting myself into. During these months I have met some of the most interesting people ever, worked hard, played hard, but most important enjoyed my time while working for the "Fun European Project".
My position at the festival has been marketing coordinator, which has been fun and...
Brian Williams, declined from being a juror at Tribeca Film Festival this year because he will be covering the Royal Wedding on April 29, 2011. BW: “How are you towards people if they recognize you in a Walgreen’s upstate, for example?” RD: “I don’t mind, sometimes people are very respectful, and they don’t recognize you. I usually just wave. If people see me on the street and say, “Hi Bob”, I usually just wave. I’m an introvert is someways, and in other ways, I am not.” BW: ...
For many people, British urban cinema came into its’ own with the premiere of ‘Adulthood’ on June the 20th 2009. 2 years on, the genre has now spawned its’ first spoof with the cheekily titled Anuvahood. It was at the Adulthood premiere when BUFF first caught up with messyrs Aml Ameen & Kamara Bacchus. It wasn’t your standard red carpet interview. Such is the beauty of the English language that a word can mean so many things to so many people – let’s just say the word BUFF wa...

The Bang Bang Club is the true story about four, free spirited combat photographers with a passion for danger and search for the truth during the uprisings in apartheid South Africa from Nelson Mandela’s release from serving a life sentence in prison on February 11, 1990, to the first democratic election in 1994, in which he became President until 1999. Follow these fearless young men as they demonstrate bravery, camaraderie, and moral turpitude, in the heart of the apartheid riots and “tr...

Youlearn a lot, you get it straight and you know exactly where you stand … in along line of other people trying to get jobs in the industry. The hunger of interest in the audience is palatableunlike...
