The International Freethought Film Festival is hosted by the Freethought Film Festival Foundation, which is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, educational organization promoting reason, critical thinking and freedom of inquiry through the medium of film. The biggest project to carry out that mission is the production of the International Freethought Film Festival; an annual event that features independent films submitted by filmmakers. The film festival is a celebration of having the basic human right to express freethought concepts, and to educate the public on the importance of using reason, critical thinking and science (void of superstitions) to explain the natural world and improve upon the human condition. The Call for Submissions for the first season is open, and entries can be narrative, documentary and animations for features and short films alike.
To celebrate its one year anniversary as a non-profit organization, the Free-thought Film Festival Foundation, has waived film submission fees to the International Freethought Film Festival for enrolled college students until November 1, 2010.
