The Babelgum Online Film Festival was created to celebrate and reward the very best in international independent short filmmaking by providing exposure and cash awards for emerging talent. With its non-restrictive submission guidelines and international visibility, the festival supports and encourages talent and continues to provide a unique venue for filmmakers to showcase their craft.

This year's festival will feature simultaneous mobile and online viewing and voting by the global public in four categories.
As part of the festival, Stolichnaya Vodka will present the inaugural Stoli Emerging Filmmaker Award.

THE JURY
Prestigious jury of industry experts drawn from around the world.
They include acclaimed filmmakers and experts:
Writer/director Richard Linklater (Before Sunrise, School of Rock, Me and Orson Welles),
Writer/director Sally Potter (Orlando, Yes, RAGE),
Director/producer Annie Sundberg (The Trials of Darryl Hunt, The Devil Came on Horseback, Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work),
Producer Eric Watson (Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain),
Director/curator Jason Wishnow (Oedipus, Director of Film & Video, TED), will be among those serving as Jurors for the festival.

CALL FOR ENTRY
Films with running times up to 15 minutes are eligible to enter each of the following categories:
Animation - stop-motion, anime, hand-drawn, CGI, paper cut, or any other animation form (5 min max.)
Narrative - story-based, fictional live-action films in any genre (15 min max.)
Nonnarrative - live-action artists' film and video (5 min max.)
Documentary - observational, presenter-led, narrated, real-life storytelling (15 min max.)

3rd Babelgum Online Film Festival - Festival Awards
The Stoli Emerging Filmmaker Award will be presented to a new or emerging filmmaker who displays clear and outstanding achievement through direction, animation, writing, and/or camerawork in any of the four categories.
The Audience Awards will be given to an outstanding film receiving the highest number of votes determined solely by the voting totals from the global web, mobile, and IPTV Babelgum audience.
The Best Viral Short Award will be given to an outstanding film with "viral" potential and a running time of under 3 minutes. The winner will receive a $2,000 cash award.
The Jury Awards will be given to an outstanding film in each of the four categories, determined by members of the Jury. Four first-place winners will received a $3,000 cash award and four second-place winners will receive $1,000 cash award.
The Grand Jury Award will be given to an outstanding film chosen by members of the Jury. The winner will receive a $6,000 cash award.

How can I submit my film to BOFF3?

Please read the Terms and Conditions and click the banner for each category where you want to submit your film(s).
You will then fill out an application/registration form and you will have to agree to our Uploader Agreement.

If you have any issues uploading your film(s), please contact support@babelgum.com. For any other questions non-related to upload issues, please email festival@babelgum.com.

What awards will my film be eligible for?


All Festival Entries will be eligible for the following awards: a Babelgum Online Film Festival Jury Award (one 1st Place and one Runner Up per Category); a Babelgum Online Film Festival Audience Award (one per Category); the Stoli Emerging Filmmaker Award (one per Category); a Best Viral Short Award; and a Grand Jury Award.

How are the winners decided?

The winner of the Jury Awards for each category will be determined by the Babelgum Online Film Festival Jurors (see "3rd Babelgum Online Film Festival Jury"). The winner of the Stoli Emerging Filmmaker Award and the Best Viral Short Award will be determined by a panel consisting of Jurors and Babel representatives. The winner of the Audience Award for each Category will be determined according to the number of votes received by Babel during the online and mobile voting period.

When does the voting begin?

Submissions will be accepted from March 11 through March 28. The Babelgum audience will be able to start voting online and via mobile devices between March 29 and April 3. The voting period will continue for at least 15 days until a date to be announced on the Babelgum website.

What can I win?

If you are the 1st Place winner of a Jury Award, you will receive a cash prize of US $3,000 (three thousand dollars). If you are a runner-up, you will receive US $1,000 (one thousand dollars). The winner of the Best Viral Short Award will receive US $2,000 (two thousand dollars). If you are the winner of an Audience Award, you will receive a prize to be determined by Babel and announced on the Babelgum website. If you are the winner of the Stoli Emerging Filmmaker Award, your film will be screened along with other winners and honored at a reception during the Tribeca Film Festival.
