One woman who sets up acommittee of mothers whose children ‘disappeared’ in a dirty war waged by adictatorship; One man who unites with those of the same mind to combathomophobia against the combined forces of state, church and society; One childwho escaped childhood marriage and mobilizes an international audience to bringabout an end to sexual slavery. One woman who fights to defend women sentencedto stone killing in Iran.These are amazing stories of courageous human rights defenders depicted inthese films.


The eight documentaries to bescreened at FLASHPOINT Human Rights Film Festival highlight the extraordinarywork done by eight human rights defenders across the world, and their bravefight against injustice and oppression.

 

The films shine a harsh beam onhuman rights issues like Human Trafficking & Child prostitution; Violationof international laws on war & peace; Atrocities under Military regime;Religious fundamentalism & Homophobia; Political annexation/occupation andoppression; Women disempowerment and honor killings; Ravages of Civil War andhostilities and War crimes and killing of innocents.

 

Screening of these filmsalongwith panel discussion and media campaigns is intended to bring about achange in perceptions and mindsets and initiate action by urging us to reflect,react, revolutionalize and act as a ‘flashpoint’ to usher in change.
