About the Director: 

Gonzalo López was born in Barcelona in 1977. He worked as production assistant in Nacho Cerdà's Genesis (1998). In 2008 he directed his first feature, Embryo an official remake of Koji Wakamatsu's The embryo hunts in secret, being the movie, the first Spanish remake of Japanese film. The film was selected in competition at Sitges 2008 and was released on theaters in 2010.

After that he directed two short films, Old number seven (2009) and Myth (2013), both of them were selected in several film festivals around the world being the former premiered at Sitges 2009 and Myth being premiered at Malaga Film Festival 2014.

Dolorosa Gioia (2017) is his second feature.

<p><em>Dolorosa gioia&nbsp;</em>tells the story of the tragic life of Renaissance music composer Carlo Gesualdo, although the story is set in the present.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Carlo, a young music composer from a wealthy family, is going through an emotional crisis. When he moves to a new house he recalls the events and factors that led to his condition: the moment he met Maria, his first marriage, his obsession with music, infidelity and the consequences of it. While the past returns in the form of memories, Carlo fights to recover his life and desire to compose music...</p> <div> &nbsp;</div>
