About the Director:

Jean-Julien Collette (Brussels - 1978) is an autodidact Belgian filmmaker. Bitten by the cinema bug at the age of eight, he promised his father that one day he would become a film director. Many years later, he is fulfilling his dream with five short films to his credit totaling up to 400 selections and 100 awards in film festivals (such as Karlovy Vary, Montreal World, Palm Springs Shorts, Clermont Ferrand...).

"Electric Indigo" is his first solo work and marks a change of direction towards a hand-held camera style and a colorful aesthetic. In this film, he explores his favorite themes in more depth; the sexuality and the unstructured family in a modern and pluralistic society.

He is currently preparing his first long feature, "Rabbits", a supernatural thriller.

Invitation to Cinetopia film festival

Dear Jean-Julien

My name is Hanna Sköld, and I’d like to invite you to submit Electric Indigo to Cinetopia festival. Cinetopia is a participatory festival, with a completely new local/global concept. We will screen films at independent locations all over the world at the same time during one week.

Cinemas, cultural institutions, libraries and private homes anywhere in the world will become hosts for the festival during one week in september. The hosts choose films from www.cinetopia.cc  sell tickets and organize the screenings.

The income from tickets sold is automatically split between the host and the filmmaker.

We are filmmakers ourselves with roots in the independent film industry, and our goal is to create a more open, collaborating and transparent festival and film distribution system. No competitions and no gatekeepers. Just collaboration and sharing.

This is the second year the festival is arranged. Last year it was called Nordic Creative Commons film festival, and 60 different events took part throughout Europe, with 260 screenings.

We would love to have your film as part of the festival. Please have a look at www.cintetopia.cc and submit Electric Indigo to the festival. If you have other films you would like to participate with as well, don’t hesitate to submit them as well. I am looking forward to hear from you, and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions.

All the best, Hanna Sköld
