About the Producer:
Ecstasy Film Inc. is currently developing a number of other projects which it intends to produce as international co-productions. These projects are adaptations of award-winning books and best-selling novels to be adapted by award-winning screenwriters. We have chosen to option and develop these books for they are topical, controversial, entertaining and enlightening. Our slate reflects films with themes, plots and stories that have universal social issues underlying the stories. We believe these social issues have great importance in the idea that films can inspire discussion, as well as civic awareness, global engagement and positive social change. Ecstasy Film Inc. is producing Ecstasy based on Irvine Welsh’s book. In 1996, the same year that saw Trainspotting achieve massive international success (grossing over US$70 Million at the box office). Ecstasy debuted as the No. 1 Bestseller all over the world, and was translated into twenty languages. The feature-length film Ecstasy is an adaptation of a short story (entitled The Undefeated) taken from this narrative collection. In Spring 2012, we will be shooting Gaza starring Academy Award Winning Actress Helen Mirren as a Canada/UK Co-production, Directed by Emmy Award Winner Philip Martin and Written by Emmy Award Winner Frank Deasy. Rob Heydon co-produced Greyfriars Bobby, a UK film, which came to Canada for post-production and significant cost savings. The company takes the time to develop scripts fully, prior to seeking financing. Ecstasy Film Inc. has been awarded script development financing from The Movie Network’s Harold Greenberg Fund, CTV, CTF, NOMF and others.
