PLOT THIS: A FIRST TIME FEATURE DIRECTOR LEADS HORROR INTO THE LIMELIGHT

After the successful completion of the short film, BODY OF WORK, Director Farnaz Samiinia and producing partner, Isabel Gallardo, and I began developing one of our feature film ideas to secure financing for the horror/ thriller PLOT 7 starring Linden Ashby (Melrose Place, Mortal Combat), Gabrielle Carteris (Beverly Hills 90210) and Joseph Castanon (Click, Jericho). It’s scheduled for release in Spring 2007.
When an aspiring horror novelist inherits the family cemetery he uses the
opportunity to draw inspiration to write his first novel. After he and his family become the new caretakers he finds that he has drawn more than just inspiration from his inheritance; he’s inherited the family legacy: madness.
Financing, financing, and eager inquiries: How did you get the financing? Energetically, Samiinia explains, “Private investors believed in our work and wanted to collaborate on our next project.”
Every film industry producer knows the production budget of horror films translates well at the box office. But for this director it’s her narrative passion. “I have always enjoyed classic horror/thrillers and have been greatly influenced by such filmmakers as Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick.”
It was so opportune for Samiinia to direct experienced actors on her first feature. “It’s a great opportunity to work with professionals who could understand where I was coming from and what I wanted to achieve in each scene; they never argued my reasons or doubt in my decisions.
