David Branin

Writer/Director David Branin grew up near Hartford, Connecticut.  Raised by a single deaf mother, he picked up her skill of observing and reading people.  It wasn't until his college career was almost over that the dream of making a major motion-picture burst into his head. David and three of his closest friends wrote an original screenplay together and moved to Los Angeles in 2000 to pursue their own Hollywood ending. His pursuit of that dream continues to this day.

He is the Director/Writer/Producer of Night Before the Wedding and Co-Host of Film Courage.

His work has been seen by millions online.  His short films, Shoot-Out and Honey, I'm Home have garnered the most acclaim, having combined to screen in over 40 international film festivals while winning their share of awards.

  KAREN WORDEN
Karen Worden

Actress/Spokesperson Karen Worden co-hosts L.A. Talk Radio's "Film Courage".  At age 18, Karen drove herself and her belongings to Los Angeles from the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue her acting career.  As many an L.A. transplant will do, Karen worked several odd jobs to pay the rent.  Karen's had many interesting work experiences which have further flavored her character.

Karen's style is earthy with a slight touch of fire (thanks to a combination of a sun in Pisces with a Sagittarius rising for all you astrology buffs), easygoing, intuitive and direct. In hosting the new Internet radio talk show, "Film Courage," Karen seeks to probe industry professionals on their quest for greater things.  Karen's in-depth questioning discovers how individuals overcome the naysayers, along with quieting the harshest of critics - oneself!  She questions industry professionals on their fear of success versus fear of failure, overcoming self-sabotage, and developing one's greatest strengths.

Karen's credits include Honey I'm Home, Road Therapy, Weekend Get Away, Religious Freaks Gone Wild, Mind Over Matter Man, Smoking - The Movie and the latest Night Before the Wedding.  Karen also wrote and starred in a one-woman play showcased at the Space Theatre entitled The Other Woman, as well as being featured in several commercials and print ads.  One of her favorite shoots was working with Richard Simmons on his Sweatin' to the Oldies series.

Film Courage Interactive Featuring Takedowns & Falls 10-11-10 LA 7:00 p.m.

LA Talk Radio’s Film Courage co-hosts David Branin and Karen Worden present the 13th ‘Film Courage Interactive’ at the Downtown Independent on Monday, October 11th, 2010 from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm featuring Takedowns and Falls, a documentary film by Todd Hickey and Kirk Ledger. Takedowns and Falls exhibits a group of Pennsylvania teens and their relationships within a high school wrestling team on a journey to attain a state championship. It chronicles a season of the Central Dauphin Rams in Harrisburg, PA and highlights the sacrifice of its athletes, the commitment of their families and the dedication of its coaches. Inspired by their love of the sport and their coaches, this group of teens grows up before our eyes, in an attempt to over achieve and do the impossible. Takedowns and Falls explores themes of humility, family, friendship and teamwork via individual and team efforts to win a state title. The film transcends the sport, becoming a story about people over coming odds, and will appeal to a wide audience. Takedowns and Falls is Spellbound meets Friday Night Lights for high school wrestling, taking place in the U.S. Mecca for the sport.

It is an expose on humanity that transcends the mat and captures life-lessons that all people can share and learn from. Audiences will witness the characters go about their days, their lives captured and portrayed honestly, on and off the mat, and finding the parallels between the two.

The Film Courage Interactive is a three-part event featuring 1) Two short films with Directors’ Q & A; 2) A feature film screening of Takedowns and Falls with Director’s Q&A; and 3) An in-depth discussion among fellow artists on upcoming projects, the current state of independent film, and epiphanies about the business (similar to a filmmaker support group).

The goal of the Film Courage Interactive is to build an appetite for independent film, bringing artists together in a collaborative setting while experiencing the beautiful theater of The Downtown Independent.  Hope to see you there!

Admission: $10.00

Location:  The Downtown Independent, 251 S. Main St., LA, CA  90012

Date/Time:  Monday, 10-11-10 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
