A COMPLEXION CHANGE
Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009
Barack Hussein Obama

My Thoughts on Barack Obama

In 2008, history was made when Barack Obama was elected president. This made me feel very proud to be an African American.
America has taken a big step in accepting diversity in political leadership roles. By that I mean voting for and electing our first African American president, Barack Obama. Barack Obama is an inspiration to me, because he proved that there can always be change as long as you are willing to work toward it.
I also believe, he will make every effort to find a peaceful solution to ending the war in Iraq, solving the crisis with the economy, and any other crisis that may effect America and its people in the future.
Barack Obama is an inspiration to every American - Black, White, Asian, and Hispanic.

Tyler Jerami Griffith, 12 years old
Chicago/Illinois, USA

PART LXIX
Grownupism!
1Day, When I Grow Up!

So, as usual, I wuz sittin' an' stinkin' 'bout new beginnin's, probly 'cause it's a new year! Or at least it's sorta new, 'cause it started a month ago when it was still wonderland 'cause skool wuz closed!
So, wut's a few days one way or another?
Sum things are new, like the new president of the USA an' sum things are ol', like the dragon-teecher an' alla her co-dragons in our dungeon skool!
The dragons are ol' stuff with edukation thru punishment, long borin' hours, early mornin' git ups in the cold weather an' lottsa homework!
With papers extendin' from here to the moon!
Like always!
On the other hand, all I read an' hear 'bout in skool is the new president takin' over from ol' Stetson Hat, the king messerupeer of all times!
Peeple kept tryin' to wish this guy away, but he jes wouldn't go, he wouldn't go for a long 8 years an' lottsa more messin' up!
Sum peeple sey, he did a little good stuff, but on the other hand...?
Wow, whatta witch doktor!
My perents an' granma are reel excited 'bout President Obama an' they are reely hopin' he'll make a diffrence for the peeple in the wurl.
I've seen him on T.V. a lot an' I noticed, he talks like my father - reel proper an' sensible like!
He's gotta nice smile an' he's funny an' cool like my papa too!
Actually, a lotta kids in my skool think he is like their papas in a lotta ways!
Boys an' girls!
Even the kids from oversees like Prez Obama a lot, so he reely has a lotta peeple goin' for him.
Kids are sayin', they wanna grow up to be like him?
Do they meen 'cause he's President or 'cause he's such a nice guy?
I dunno!
Even the dragon likes the new President an' that's reely sayin' sumthin' when the dragon likes sumbody, 'cause those liked peeple are far an' in between!
So with the dragon's recommendation, he is reely off to a good start an' is probably sure to be successful!
Plus, granma is also in his corner, big time.
Man, when I grow up, I wonder if all the peeple are reely gonna be on my side too?
Or is ev'rything already used up by the President an' I'll have to find sum new peeple to adore me too!?
Like my papa sez life is always a challenge, so I guess this'll be sum of the challengin' stuff, I'm gonna have to face one day.
Sooner or later!
Well, it's gittin' late, so I'm gonna sleep an' save all that challengin' stuff for later.
Much later!
G'nite
I luv you
G'nite.

PART LXIX
Erwachsensein!

Also, was sind schon 'n paar Tage, hin oder her?
Wow, was'n Hexendoktor!
Keine Ahnung!
'Nacht
Hab euch lieb
'Nacht

The festival screens cinema from the African Diaspora and other films from varied intercultural backgrounds or perspectives.

Black International Cinema Berlin originated from the Black Cultural Festival, which was produced and directed by Fountainhead® Tanz Theatre in 1986 for the first time in Europe, a 3-week event in Berlin, which presented the contributions of Black people to world culture through film, theater, dance, music, workshops and seminars, and was an homage to the legendary tap dancer, Carnell Lyons.
