INDIAN COWBOY Rides out into Theatres Feb 23!
"INDIAN COWBOY" STARRING SOUTH ASIAN STARS SHEETAL SHETH AND DEEP KATDARE COMES TO THEATRES FEBRUARY 23 "Indian Cowboy: a love-love story" is a stylish, new addition to the roster of uniquely North American stories made by South Asian filmmakers. Starring South Asian stars Sheetal Sheth and Deep Katdare, this desi romantic comedy is coming to North American theatres on February 23. "American Desi" and "American Chai", both culture clash stories, made stars out of Deep Katdare and Sheetal Sheth respectively. "Indian Cowboy" now invites us into a different arena – true love! In this romantic comedy with a desi twist, three love stories interweave to explore the idea of true love (or love-love as it's referred to in the movie). Nikhil Kamkolkar, writer/director of Indian Cowboy believes that in today's contemporary society many young couples around the world are struggling with the same issues and possibilities created by the jet-set, global lifestyle of today, and will relate to the theme and content of his movie. The film was cast color-blind, leading to a very diverse and talented cast that represents a wide spectrum of American society. Indeed, Sundra Oakley, an American actress of Jamaican descent, recently made quite an impression and gained international exposure with her fourth place finish on the CBS Survivor show. Sheetal Sheth and Deep Katdare have also come a long way from their debut films – with Sheth starring in Albert Brook's "Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World" and Katdare in the Broadway show "Bombay Dreams". Filmmaker Nikhil Kamkolkar is excited about the February 23 release of Indian Cowboy in North America. "I really want to see this film play in India as well", he adds. But no distribution deal has been setup yet for other territories. "Indian Cowboy" is a romantic comedy not starring Aishwarya and George Clooney", he jokes. "And that is both its strength and weakness. It brings a new style and sensibility to the silver screen. But without star power, getting a film distributed anywhere is quite a challenge!" But clearly, the desi filmmakers are up for a challenge! And on February 23, all that the desi audiences have to do is turn up at the theatres, sit back, relax and enjoy this love-love story! "Indian Cowboy: a love-love story" is releasing February 23 in select theatres. A special advance screening in New York City will take place on Feb 22.
