Morris Bates' Poster
This poster captures Morris Bates' career: successful Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas and dedicated servant of his people as Aboriginal Liaison with the Vancouver Police Department. On the left side of the poster, you see Morris in his youth where he showcased three phases of The King's own career: the 50s, 60s and 70s. On the right, you see Morris leading a troupe of Aboriginal youth on a "tour" of the mean streets of Vancouver's downtown east side, showing them the realities of life there should they make the mistake of moving to that part of the city. In the centre you see Morris as he is today, in his 60s; aged considerably but still posessedof the engaging personality that made him who he was and still is: a remarkable individual who shows us what hard work, stick-to-itiveness and a fundamentally caring attitude can help us achieve.
