Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the modern Turkish Republic
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was the founder of the modern Turkish Republic and its first President. During his 15-year tenure as President, he transformed the life of a nation and introduced secularism, binding all religions and peoples in one country.
Europeanising his country, he created the Republic of Turkey in 1923, establishing new social, legal, economic, political and cultural reforms in an antiquated 6-century structure until he died in 1938.
The swiftness of the transformation within his country was unmet anywhere else.
1933 quote of the leader : "I look to the world with an open heart full of pure feelings and friendship".
