Collector
Director: Julie Ufema.
Serena and Anna grew up together in the same orphanage, dreaming of one day being adopted into the same family, so when Mr. and Mrs. Eversoul take them in they all believe that their prayers have been answered. But the dream quickly turns into a nightmare when they realize that being a family comes with an unimaginable responsibility passed down over the centuries.
Guided by the family sage and a misunderstood ‘Collector’, Serena and Anna navigate through a maze of lost souls. These souls have a price to pay someone, or something, to free them selves and find eternal peace. Serena and Anna must find the strength and power to help free these souls or find themselves paying an even bigger price.

Short Films, Long Amazement – at the 27th Hamburg International Short Film Festival The first films shown to amazed audiences on fairs and during vaudeville shows all had one thing in common: They were short. Likewise, many early attempts at film making, in which directors develop concepts and ideas for future features, are quite often rather short as well. Even though the short film started because of technical limitations, it is now offering impressive opportunities: There is hardly any othe...
Since BARDSONGS (2010) screened in Palm Springs this past PSIFF 2011, I’ve been speaking to director Sander Francken about doing an interview about what I thought was an extremely intriguing subject for a film, that of oral storytelling in a time where storytelling has changed so much that the old modes have long since departed us. Or have they? Sander’s film is a tribute to oral storytelling and ‘bardsongs’. I tracked him down in Copenhagen at CPHPIX 2011 where his film screened and we ...

"Despicable". Thousands of kids, plastic yellow minions and unanimated studio execs took over the LA Film Festival "Closing Night" this afternoon at the World Premiere of Universal's new animation 'Despicable Me'.
Behind dark 3D glasses I tried to hide the fact I'm not 6 anymore but still had a lot of fun, especially at the after-party enjoying the spectacle of Universal's marketing maching eating children whole. (Oh and the film was funny too)

So, you may be saying.....what exactly is a film clapperboard? Well, since the beginning of films, the clapperboard has been used to visually introduce scenes so that a director and editor can organize their shots. While some prefer the new digital clapperboards, many filmmakers prefer the traditional wooden ones. Not only are a kind of nostalgia for the classic period of cinema but the loud "thwack" they make when they are closed is a sound that technicians, actors and di...

But why diaristic? It stands so on the edge of becoming uninteresting and you, more or less, let the viewer into ...
