Elli (Heidi Lindén), a university student, has a problem. Living in the poor area, but partying in the upscale clubs of the city is taking its financial toll, that can not be covered by her part time job as a cleaning lady. Even after her grandmothers antique necklace has been pawned, there just doesn't seem to be enough money for her lifestyle and to pay back the loans she has accumulated. So she decides to make money out of her one night stands and soon she settles into the lifestyle of a call-girl.
Iiris (Kristiina Puukko), who has been forced into working with a small-time criminal group, has a problem of her own. She is in love with her colleague, Andrei (Juha-Tapio Arola), who doesn't even notice it. In a macho environment, where debts are collected via fists, there wouldn't be any room for the mushy stuff anyway.
However, neighter of the women can foresee how much things will go wrong when Elli and Andrei meet one night and love springs its head up between them. Iiris is not going to just observe this from the sidelines and Elli is not going back to her old life without Andrei any more. Only when the women are forced to work together, do they come face to face with the facts that there are some mistakes that cannot be undone just like that.
”Indebted” is the debut feature as a director for Márton Jelinkó, who has worked in the Finnish independent scene as a cinematographer, for many years. It was made on a shoestring budget, using digital acquisition and utilizing an experimental improvisational method of working with the actors and combining that with the visual style of the camerawork.

the festival is based. This year, similar to last year, young artists from the
Balkan region and beyond (Southeast Europe) up to the age of 30 are invited to
create their own short films on a pre-defined subject. Entries are accepted
from the 1st of November 2010 until the
31st of March 2011. This year’s edition will tackle the
topical subject of crises, and aspiring artists will be invited to address the

festival addresses young people, up to 30 years old, interested in creatively
expressing their ideas about the Balkans region through film making. Balkans
Beyond Borders encourages all young people to participate regardless their
social, cultural or religious background.
The
films can be documentaries or fiction, animations, recorded performances and
they must address the subject of the call, having no more than 30 minutes
length. The official language of the competition is English.

Balkans
beyond Borders (BBB), a non- profit organization, intends to promote
cooperation in the Balkans and encourage young artists to reflect on
current political and economical issues in their region.
BBB started as an Initiative in the framework of Southeast
Europe and the EU Leadership and Development Programme (LDP) and is now a
non-profit organization based in Athens with the purpose of
promote intercultural dialogue and an innovative way of learning through the
art of film-making and image. Moreover, BBB aims to support young artists from
Balkans and promote their work on both local and European level.
To this aim, the Balkans Beyond Borders Film Festival
will travel to a different Balkan city each year addressing a different
subject. The Festival will be reinforced by a number of supporting activities
throughout the year including, seminars, exhibitions, workshops, other cultural
events, as well as collaborations with local and international film festivals.

GreenHeroes are remarkable people who acted on their idea and heroically “ventured forth” to protect our planet. Through their stories, our goal is to inspire people to take action and green their everyday lives. In this episode we find GreenHeroes at the root of the earth’s problems helping find new ways to tackle deforestation, GMOs, mass food production and even poverty in Africa. We feature three women on their journeys to make a difference.
Featuring: Tzeporah Berman, organizer of a series of protests that drew 10,000 supporters at the height of the Clayoquot Sound conflict in British Columbia.To achieve her goals, Tzeporah straddles the line between activism and corporate America. She works with corporations such as Staples and Dell to help them become more ecologically friendly. She also convinced Victoria’s Secret to print their catalogues on recycled paper.
Wangari Maathai, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, the first environmentalist to be recognized with this honour. Wangari initiated the Green Belt movement in Kenya, a program in which groups of women were paid to plant trees, proving advantageous for both the environment and the women. The movement set off the United Nations One Billion Trees Campaign. Each year, the campaign aims to have one billion trees planted worldwide.
Laura Reinsborough, a real pioneer for local food usage and a new mother, she founded an organization that does away with rotting fruit. Laura founded Not Far From The Tree, an organization that harvests fruit bearing plants around Toronto. A third of the bounty goes to the volunteers, a third goes to the owner of the tree and a third goes to local shelters, preventing thousands of pounds of fruit from going to waste.
