Muppets Most Wanted
A franchise that probably suffered due to the committee-style of film-making, Muppets Most Wanted does have its moments. At the end of it all, though, one feels that it is a case of wasted opportunities. Too many insider jokes, too many take-offs and too many guest appearances of little consequence make the eighth Muppet outing nowhere near the best.
A muppet is a cross between a marionette and a puppet, created by Jim Henson (died 1990), which lends itself to an interestin...

Out of work on a picket line outside the Academy Awards this year. It is a 30-minute documentary made by the studio ...

FFFilm Project (Family Fiction Film Project) is a cycle of video and film, which explores several possibilities around the topic of family/familiar: documentary or fiction movies about the intimate, the personal or private, family footage, home movies, self-portraits / about identities, family as a landscape, alternative families, etc. In the era of the democratization of the use of image the objects produced are increasingly on the intimacy and in the precariousness of the production resources. There is a new way to make films and to tell stories. Public and private or global and local, stand in a constant transformation in their inter-connection at the same they have a tremendous impact on the way of producing, creating and living. We believe that at this moment, this kind of cycle is full of sense; it will be a moment for sharing ways of doing and perspectives which concerns are to do with fragility, intimacy and precarity. This cycle is open both to amateur and professional videos.
purgatory / noun / an intermediate place or state of temporary suffering for expiatory purification
Within the word “purgatory”, it is easy to envision condemned souls, torment and darkness. However, purgatory may also reflect the cyclic state in which we often rediscover or recreate ourselves anew from within our personal inflictions. Sometimes it is the necessary stage to exorcise ourselves from the haunting ghosts of the past. Perhaps it is the serene place of self reflection and realization.
From within this, DAMNED proudly presents an exhibition of powerful cinema called Purgatory. Held on March 7th & 8th 2014 at the Tangent Gallery in Detroit, Purgatory will present approximately 90 minutes of short films of introspective, emotive and/or enlightened subject matters from filmmakers worldwide. This is not an industry-focused film festival, but a tributary showcase of the often redemptive films from the filmmaker’s personal collections.

RabbitFest is an international animation film festival, created in 2010 by the cultural association SKUNK with the aim of fostering an interest in animation in Italy.
The festival has always remained faithful to the philosophy of free entry in order to facilitate the dissemination of its cultural message. It consists of three days of screenings, based on a conception of cinema not just as entertainment, but as a visual and educational experience enabling people to get to know the best international animation.
In fact, the first aim of the association is to promote feature and short films that have not been distributed in Italy and are therefore unknown to the general public.
During the past four years, RabbitFest has screened award-winning international works from all over the world, including of course Italian animation.
One of the characteristics of the previous editions has been the choice of a common theme to all the selected works. Until now, such themes have been: Lost and Found, New Beginnings, Disturbances and Perspectives.
Last year, SKUNK also organized its first international competition for animated shorts, with the participation of more than 300 works from around the world. The artistic direction of RabbitFest selected 25 short films from amongst the entries and awarded a 500 euro prize to the best animated short of 2013, as chosen both by the audience and the association.

The implementation of stereoscopic 3-D in film is still a relatively new concept. It’s a polarizing subject, with most casual moviegoers having no problem throwing wads of cash at major studios for the chance to put on the infamously un-hip glasses, while most hardcore cinephiles denounce the technique as a distracting, gimmicky blotch on the history of cinema. 3-D movies have been hugely lucrative for major studios, but most 3-D ...
