SOUND ON SCREEN is the first film festival in South Africa with its focus aimed at music on screen.

Every family goes through a crisis of relations. When there is a danger of losing love, Amour's Angel comes to the rescue. He proposes husband to upgrade amour and update the marriage relationships. How? Play a game Crazy Ray of sunshine! The husband starts game... This is a fairy tale, where all wishes are granted. There are all that is in the life of every family: friends, lovers, relatives boring, nasty teenagers in this amusing tutu of musicals. This is a funny musical satire on a family relationships, the eternal dispute between a man and a woman - who is right? The Headline of this story is: Laugh if you wanna to cry! Be happy if you wish!

It seemed like a simple story: a group of Israeli "drum addicts" travel to the Republic of Mali, to study the Djembe, the ceremonial African drumming. Gradually it becomes a highly charged encounter between black Muslims and white Jews, between Hi-Tec experts and poor villagers and ends as a heart breaking love affair.

Offers three competitions:
- THE HEINRICH award for European debut & second features (10.000 Euro)
- THE LEO for the best combination of sound/music and image in a short film (2.000 Euro)
- the French-German youth award KINEMA for the best debut film
Main award of the festival is THE EUROPA for outstanding performances of a European actress or actor and her or his contribution to European film culture (10.000 Euro). Hanna Schygulla, Bruno Ganz and John Hurt received the EUROPA in recent years.
The festival's second focus is "Music & Film" with film concerts, a portray of a composer and a music master class. Reknown composers like Michael Nyman, Carl Davis, Craig Armstrong and Zbigniew Preisner have been guests of this programme.
Other programmes are "New International Cinema", "New German Film" and an extensive short fiml programme.
The Nashville Film Festival turned 40 last year, and
while "41" doesn't cut the same dash, the South's oldest film festival
should keep crowds plenty fortified over its eight days. Running April 15-22 at Regal Green Hills Cinemas, NaFF 2010 has a lineup of 230 films.

The Northern Wave International Film Festival is now open for entries for all genre short films and music videos.
