Taipei Film FestivalPreviously chaired by the Taiwanese maestro Hou Hsiao Hsien and now by the acclaimed director/ writer/ producer/ actress Sylvia Chang, Taipei Film Festival is an annual film event. Now in its 14th year, it screens around 200 films from over 30 countries worldwide. It is the only film festival in Taiwan to offer the International New Talent Competition alongside its exclusive competition for Taiwanese films and filmmakers, Taipei Film Awards. Together with these competition programmes, Taipei Film Festival also offers a Panorama section that presents cinema from across the world, and the constant City Vision strand showcasing the cultures through their films of one particular major international city in the world. We have had the privilege to show the films from the theme cities include Paris, Prague, Madrid, Kyoto, Melbourne, St. Petersburg, Montreal, Copenhagen, Jerusalem, Dublin, Berlin, Rio de Janeiro and London. With around 100,000 attendees each year, it has become one of the mist influential film festivals in the Chinese-speaking world. In 2012, We will celebrate our latest selections from 29th June to 21st July. |
