Alain Andrieux
Graduated in Sociology with a Master's degree in Cultural and Social Development, I specialized in developing and promoting cultural projects. Being passionate about writing and cinema, I became involved in organizing the first edition of Animaze - Montreal International Animation Film Festival (MIAFF). I discovered this new field and its thematics bringing together professionals, schools animation studios, distributors and audience. As an organizer and communications officer, I met the who's who of Quebec animation expanding my knowledge of this genre. I subsequently worked with the main Montrealer's medias dedicated to cinema :
Le Lien Multimedia, lienmultimedia.com/
or ITnewslink itnewslink.com/
My tasks included writing articles, translation (English-French), as well as web edition and advertising. I also assumed content management for various websites, as well as public relations within the film industry. All these experiences familiarized me with the world of cinema and writing. Today I report for various public conferences and panels (not only about cinema) writing as well as transcribing reports for meetings, companies, politics and public forums. In charge of 2014 Annecy Festival conferences, I recently joined www.filmfestivals.com/ as correspondent and seek editorial positions and/or cultural projects to widen my experience. Based in Paris I can produce filmed or written interviews or reports, articles or pictures and cover any event on which you want to communicate.
"Feast", the new animated short movie from DisneyOne month ago, Walt Disney Animation Studios announced the synopsis and title of their new animated short movie "Feast". This 6'mn short movie produced by Kristina Reed premiered at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival on June 10, 2014. Such event was eagerly awaited by the public.
This new gift from Disney features Winston, the dog of a young photographer. The story is told through the eyes of Winston who uncovers his master's love life bite by bite through the meals they share. As an extra gift for audience, "Feast" will be shown in theaters prior to the main feature, "Big Hero 6", on November 7th in US and February 11th 2015 in France. Kristina Reed has already worked with "Feast" director Patrick Osborne (co-head of animation on
"Big Hero 6") on "Paperman", which had its world premiere at Annecy 2012 and won an Academy Award for Animated Short film in 2013.
Last year, Disney's "Get a Horse!" world premiere was held in Annecy on June 11, 2013 and features the voice of Walt Disney as the voice of the 1920's Mickey Mouse. The short features the famous 1920's Mickey Mouse, designed in black and white, on a musical wagon ride with his friends Minnie, Horace Horsecollar, and Clarabelle Cow whilst Peg-Leg Pete tries to run them off the road. Mickey pushes his foot through the screen, coming out in 3D color. Disney plays with this transformation throughout the short adventure as Mickey jumps back and forth between old and new. "Get a Horse!" was nominated for an oscar as Best Animated Short Film in 2013 at AMPAS, and is considered by Todd Mc Carthy of The Hollywood Reporter as "one of the wittiest and most inventive animated shorts in a long time".
Disney has been coming to Annecy's festival for more than 15 years but does not bring shorts to compete.
"We are the oldest animation studio in the world and a prestigious one. Disney doesn't bring its movies to Annecy to compete but to share it with people they like animation. Students shows in Annecy productions they did by themselves, in their garage with their friends. Disney don't want to take an award from them. It's hard to know if a movie is good or not, so we want to know what audience producing animation think about our choices, about the colors, the characters, the story and everything" Kristina declares.
It took over a year to develop and create "Feast" with on average one hundred people working on the project. "Big hero 6", was produced over a period of 4 years. She made her short in the middle of that. "You're borrowing some people for few days, and make a short between one giant animated movie. That's why it took a year" Kristina admits.
Disney presents its films in many festivals and sent "Paperman" to Hiroshima, Ottawa, Los Angeles Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and Anima Festival in Brussels.
