Announcing the call for entries!

The Ars Independent Festival, Katowice’s holiday of discoveries from the borders between film, music and video games calls for entries! For the fifth time, Black Horses of modern audiovisual art are sought out.

Up until June 30th, 2015 we await entries to three festival competitions: the Black Horse, the Black Horse of Animation and – that’s new! – the Black Horse of Video Games.

The Black Horse is open to all full-length feature debuts and second films that will have their Polish premieres. The Black Horse of Animation is a competition for directors of their first or second short-length animation. Winners are awarded with the title and statuettes of the Black Horse, alongside a monetary prize of 2.500 and 500 euros respectively.

Following the formula of the film competitions and continuing the exploration of the world of video games, we set in motion a new contest – the Black Horse of Video Games, in which creators of the best games will compete for the title and statuette of the Black Horse and 500 euros.

– The time came for the next step in highlighting the place of video games at Ars and underlining the role of games in contemporary culture – says Bartek Sołtysik, Festival promotion coordinator and curator of the Do You Play? section.

Apart from all that, the Festival will feature the now traditional sections in new iterations: Louder, showcasing the most interesting phenomena between visual art and music; and Do You Play?, focused on putting video games in a critical spotlight.

Rules and regulations alongside entry forms are avaialble at Call for Black Horses.
