CYIFF CYPRUS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVALCYIFF - Cyprus International Film Festival History CΥIFF operates within the network of Cultural International Film Festivals and is the first internationally oriented film festival which offers new and upcoming directors in multiple sectors of entertainment (such as feature films, short films, animations, music videos, dance films and video art) the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of a jury of internationally acclaimed cinema experts, directors and actors. The awards are the "GOLDEN APHRODITE", production and crew services, shooting equipment facilities. Equally unique is the condition that these prizes must be utilized for their next project and spent in Cyprus and/or Greece. The volunteers are eligible to scholarships in prestigious Universities and Film Programs. The 'CΥIFF - Cyprus International Film Festival - Golden Aphrodite' is the brainchild of a group of dedicated individuals, event organizers, film producers, cinema experts, multimedia and audio visual specialists. The Cyprus International Film Festival - Golden Aphrodite takes place annually, since 2006, on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Cyprus. It was inaugurated by Minister of Education and Culture Mr Pefkios Georgiades and is supported by the Ministry of Tourism in Cyprus. The Cyprus International Film Festival - Golden Aphrodite is the biggest both of glamour (red carpet, black tie) and of artistic high value cinema event of the whole region spilling over Cyprus' boundaries and spreading over the whole region with repercussions reaching worldwide.
CYIFF has a competitive section. Films produced the last 36 months, by emerging directors are selected for the screening program. CYIFF promotes both Cypriot film directors and Cypriots artists living abroad through the film category "Nostimon Imar" and awarded Cypriot Film Directors, as well as Cyprus as a new cinema travel destination. 6th Cyprus International Film Festival: 30 September-16 October 2011

We invite all new film directors to apply for the 6th Cyprus International Film Festival with their film(s).
Films produced after January 1st 2008 can participate in CYIFF 2011. These films must be premieres in Cyprus.
A. CYIFF 2011 General Categories: 1. Feature Films (120 minutes max. length)
2. Short Films (up to 30 minutes)
3. Films for children (120 minutes max. length)
4. Animation Films (120 minutes max. length)
5. Sport Films - 'Fair Play' (sports genre and/or olympic spirit) (120 minutes max. length) 6. Diaspora GreekCypriot cinematographers' Films - 'Nostimon Imar' (Greek/Cypriot cinematographers who live abroad) (120 minutes max. length)
7. Humanitarian (120 minutes max. length)
8. Comedy Films (120 minutes max. length)
9. Dance Films and VIDEO DANCE (up to 60 minutes)
10. Music Films – Video Clips (up to 5 minutes)
B. CYIFF 2011 Special Categories: - Awarded Cypriot Film Directors - Panorama (films out of competition) - Homage Films about Ancient Times - Antiquity The official application form will be sent to the applicants after they fill the questionnary at Film Submission field on the website www.cyprusfilmfestival.org The deadline for applications for Greek/Cypriot feature films and shorts, which have not yet been released theatrically at cinemas in Cyprus, to participate in the competition section of the 6th International Film Festival of Cyprus, is the 30th of June, 2011. The applicants will be notified within August 2011 for the selection of their film.

The awards are the "Golden Aphrodite", film reels as well as crew services and shooting equipment prizes.
Unique is the condition that these prizes -of high artistic value- must be used for their next project and spent in Cyprus and/or Greece. The selection of the awards for feature films is duty of an International Jury composed of well-known professionals in the field of cinema industry, while for short films and animation decide the Committee from Association of Cinema Club of University of Cyprus.
