Plus Camerimage

The International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography PLUS CAMERIMAGE is the greatest and most recognized festival dedicated to the art of cinematography and its creators - cinematographers. PLUS CAMERIMAGE contributes to the growth of cinematographers' prestige. The unconventional format of the Festival, which awards films according to their visual, aesthetic and technical values, has turned out to be an alternative for traditional film festivals. As all our guests emphasize - PLUS CAMERIMAGE is unique. The Festival proves to be a great forum not only for presentation but also for further development of international moviemaking. PLUS CAMERIMAGE helps young filmmakers and integrates the community of those already recognized, allowing them to explore new artistic areas.

STUART CRAIG WILL RECEIVE A SPECIAL AWARD TO PRODUCTION DESIGNER

It is our great pleasure to announce that this year, during the 18th edition of PLUS CAMERIMAGE Festival, the Special Award to the Production Designer with Unique Visual Sensitivity will be granted to Stuart Craig, production designer on Harry Potter, The English Patient, Gandhi and Agnieszka Holland’s Secret Garden.

Stuart Craig has spent the last decade bringing the magical world of Hogwarts to life as production designer on each of the Harry Potter
films. His masterful mix of creating fantastical sets and incorporating
visual effects into the films' seamless design has continually wowed
audiences for what is now the highest grossing film series of all time.
At author J.K. Rowling's behest, Craig, despite his daunting
work schedule, also lent his expertise in designing the newly-opened
Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park at Universal Orlando resort.

A three-time Academy Award winner, Craig began his fruitful partnership with director Richard Attenborough on Gandhi and took home his first Oscar for his work on the historical epic. Craig also teamed up with Attenborough on Cry Freedom, Chaplin starring Robert Downey, Jr., Shadowlands and In Love And War.
He earned his second Oscar for his sumptuous work depicting the French
rococo in Dangerous Liaisons and notched his third statuette on Anthony Minghella's The English Patient.
Craig's use of the Tunisian deserts and combining builds with
practical locations for the wrecked Italian monastery were integral in
capturing the titular character's plight and also helped secure the
first of his two Art Directors Guild Awards.

Other notable achievements include building Tarzan's cabin atop the Mount Cameroon volcano in Greystoke: The Legend Of Tarzan, Lord Of The Apes, delving deep into 17th century South American wilderness on Roland Joffé's The Mission, showcasing deserted London landscapes for The Avengers, tackling a bustling and contemporary West London in Notting Hill, and recreating 1920s Savannah, Georgia for Robert Redford's inspirational tale The Legend Of Bagger Vance.
Over his highly decorated career, Craig has amassed 13 BAFTA Award
nominations - winning twice - which includes one for each of the Harry Potter films released thus far.

In 2004, Craig earned the title of Royal Designer for Industry, the
highest accolade for a designer in manufacturing and industry in the UK.
Craig also received the Art Directors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award
in 2008. He happily resides with his wife Patricia in Berkshire,
England.
