Yippee! It’s finally here! The Abertoir Horror Festival schedule that is – sounds like a terrible plug but please visit www.abertoir.co.uk to start getting excited and booking your train ticket to Aberystwyth for what is the riot of the year in a small, pretty seaside town. J It’s taken all four of us a long time to put this schedule together but we are very proud of our line up this year as we have some cracking films in store, as well as a few premieres, short films and great guests. I expect that there are films in there that you would have heard of but also films that you probably wouldn’t have heard of, yet that’s the key since festivals are all about discovery and finding that little gem – but which one is it? Ah well you’ll have to come and find out for yourself! Plus, we never reveal everything all in one go as there are plenty more surprises/announcements in store.Well wasn’t that a plug and a half?! Was not subtle in the slightest, more like extreme self-promotion! However, the reason why I am telling anyone who cares to listen about Abertoir’s schedule is because putting the schedule together is one of my favourite parts of this job. It’s a stressful task though and the last few weeks for my boss Gaz have been incredibly difficult, but now that it’s live I love being able to show off to everyone what’s in store for those who will be joining us this year. It takes a long time to put together a film festival schedule as it’s certainly not something one can do overnight. This process is all about careful planning and assessment whilst all the time thinking about our audience – the most important thing. Sadly one event which will not be happening is A Serbian Film, as much as I love this film none of us wanted to screen it uncut it was either full-on screening or nothing at all and since we couldn’t screen it the way the director intended we had to choose the latter option. However, you can still catch it in its uncut glory at the British Horror Festival in Bournemouth – big thumbs up to them for scheduling it as their opening film.So what are you waiting for!
