Well ‘summer’ is nearly over here in the UK which means children are going back to school and Winter looms (so wolly hats and mittens are in order), but what also happens during this time is that lots of Film Festivals take place, including some of the biggies; Toronto is first followed by Venice at the beginning of September, (oh and ofcourse Abertoir in November! ;) ).

Further to my previous blog, I’m very excited about Venice for several reasons 1. Machete is opening the festival at midnight - I have been waiting to see this film all year as love Rodriguez’s work so can’t wait to hear how that goes down and 2. Quentin Tarantino, the topic of my phd, will be on board as one of the judges. Am very excited to see what he thinks should win the infamous Golden Lion Award. I’ll be following this one very closely so I’ll make sure I keep you all informed on the top events going on.

Toronto’s line up looks great, am very intrigued by the ‘is it real or is it not real documentary’ ’I'm Still Here’ & David Schwimmer’s ‘Trust’ which sounds rather disturbing (hardly Friends part 2) starring Clive Owen.

And finally, at this very moment in London Frightfest is taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend which opened on Thursday with Hatchet 2. If you’re going then don’t miss ‘The Dead’ on Monday night as its a tremendous gem of a film which will no doubt sell out fast.
